You're right - it makes sense to pay the ATM fees if the interest rate is high enough and other fees low enough. Maybe AIB will work out some ATM deals for its customers.

Another question - I haven't read much discussion about AIB's asset side management - loan activity et cetera. Where are they putting all their new deposits?

Loan losses are the number one killer of bank profits. Overhead is not everything.
