Nealm,

Found out this:

According to the highly-regarded Morgan Stanley analyst, improving business conditions in the 2nd-half of the year should help drive these stocks higher. After having profits hit by aggressive pricing in 1997, Mr. Edelstone believes that these makers of programmable logic chips will be able to hold margins going-forward, as design improvements drive increased demand. For now, the analyst is maintaining his earnings estimates. His price targets for ALTR and XLNX are $60 and $75 for LSCC.

So according to the analyst that the turnaround will be in the 2nd half of 1997. But how about this quarter and next?

Actually I have my shares covered until June, so I don't worry about near-term downward pressure. Am looking forward accumulating more down the road.

Iris

For those interested, here are the new short interest numbers out of IBD:
-----------March 24---------Feb 25
ALTR------7,526,511------6,505,745
XLNX------4,279,460------2,665,431

The shorts are getting stronger and where holding near $40. I'm looking forward to those future purchasers of ALTR/XLNX.
