GIVE ME A BREAK!! Any sharp co., which AMAT is, would know what their headcount is, permanent or temp...Even if the divisions are decentralized, corporate HR would simply need to pick up the phone and ask for a breakdown of such figures....Sounds kind of fishy to me when they say they "it's hard to gauge how many temps the company uses"...I do not buy this at all!! Clearly, nowadays, rightly or wrongly, companies make conscious decisions to hire temps -vs- perms....Sure the perms are the skilled workers and the temps not, but ANY company can deduce how many of each they have....If AMAT states they can not come up with these figures, it is BULL#$*T!!!

They just do not want to tell "the rest of the story"
