Wouldn't want to sound "negative"-- God forbid -- But what is a temporary staffing company doing in the talk-show programming biz? And why such an audience polarizing host as a Mort Downey? Now you all know that I love a good conflict, but is this really going to be the correct venue to appeal to the largest possible audience of staffing clients, or will FAMH be identified as some tool of the "right wing conspiracy" (footnote to Hillary)movement? Remember the High Tech Industry is predominantly liberal, and isn't that the sector that FAMH is going after..... This is scary.

Why can't FAMH be involved with a show that will coddle the decision makers in Silicon Valley rather than Pi!# them off? *sigh* Where's all the marketing savvy in this idea? We need to appeal to the widest possible audience!!

Melviticus--really questioning things here.

Does anyone on this thread have any television experience?

I called a friend of mine who is the general manager of three TV stations. I asked him what a sponsor (FAMH) might make on a show in 105 smaller markets on a 2% share.

He said he would need more information to make an accurate estimate, but that the total could easily be in the mid seven figures over a year's time with decent advertising sold.

That would be nearly pure profit money too, I believe. If this is so, Ira made a great decision. Maybe they should call the show, The MOREton DOUGHney SHOW!

.....Kevin,

.....I believe that (for the first year only)the MD share will be about 10%. He will give Jerry S. a run for his money, as his show is definitely more "in-your-face", and the curiosity factor will get these higher ratings. I believe that after the first year, that the combination of JS & MD will create a backlash, which may or may not help the ratings. JS is already getting this, but the sales of his "R" rated videotapes have hit 3,000,000+ this year. Who knows, maybe MD will have tapes to sell.

......I have a suggestion for the first show. Try to visualize this:
The audience is all issued flack jackets and ponchos, and there are bowls of over ripe fruit and questionable eggs, sitting everywhere. To make this show more interactive, when the guests offend the audience, the mushy fruit is lobbed onto the stage, until the guests' demeanor can be brought back under control.

.....This is tame stuff, compared to the fistfights that I fully expect to see, as a regular part of every interview. Perhaps some of you have contributions, which could make the show even more outrageous. Let's hear them. You know that FAMH is reading, and there is no corner on the market for good show ideas. What do you guys say?
