BTW CPQ's margins are (were) 7 points HIGHER than Dells, also CPQ did not give up any share to dell they gained share as did HWP, it was the smaller players who lost

This is realy not fair as the argument is over, but I just want the last word, so here goes.

re: The point of INTC's stimulus is not because DELL isn't buying P2s!!! DELL's doing fine.

INTC's problem is that DELL is small, DELL doing fine is got enough for INTC to do fine. INTC needs CPQ,IBM,HWP the sell the crap out of p333 for INTC to do fine.

re: You have argued as if DELL does not have a choice about maintaining flat margins. They do.

You have misunderstood me. I am saying that despite Price cuts, DELL's margins will stay about the same and the $$ Profit per machine will go down. This may very well be by DELL's choice, But we both expect their margins to stay the same. Which means that the Price cut in all likely hood will not lead to an increase in DELL's Margins.

That is the crux of my point.
