Willey vs. Steele. [my comments

abcnews.com

Dec. 20, 1993: Less than a month after Clinton allegedly groped her, Willey reiterates her desire to work in the White House.
ÿÿÿÿ Willey: "I just wanted to wish you a wonderful Christmas... Thank you for the opportunity to work in this great house.
ÿÿÿÿ "After this bittersweet year, my first resolution for 1994 will be the pursuit of a meaningful job--I hope it will be here."

Oct. 18, 1994: Willey writes again, still seeking an appointment "perhaps as an ambassador.
ÿÿÿÿ Willey: "Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with me. Since I've seen you, I have had the opportunity to talk with" various aides in the Clinton administration. "I have invested almost three years with your campaign and administration and am not very willing to depart yet. I would like to be considered for an ambassadorship or a position in an embassy overseas...
ÿÿÿÿ "I don't need to remind you of my willingness to help you in any way that I can."

[you know, like if you're in the mood for some groping; whatever, I'm there. Just get me an ambassadorship."]

abcnews.com

"The affidavit is prefaced by a statement from Steele's lawyer, Nancy Luque of the Washington law firm Reed Smith, which says Steele is not acting as a "pawn" for the White House. That was the charge by Willey, who maintains Steele's version of events is untrue."

"She further requested that I tell Mr. Isikoff that on that day she told me that President Clinton had made sexual advances towards her, had `groped' her, and had pulled at her clothing. Ms. Willey also asked me to describe her demeanor at the time as `upset,' `humiliated,' `disappointed,' and `harassed.'
6. I told Ms. Willey that I could not make such statements because she had not come to my house that day and had never told me of any sexual advances made by President Clinton. She repeatedly assured me that any discussion with Mr. Isikoff would be `off the record' and that it would be all right if I lied to him.
7. I met with Mr. Isikoff that afternoon and, as requested by Ms. Willey, I lied to him about her coming to my home after meeting with President Clinton. In an effort to support Ms. Willey, I tried to repeat the story she had told me--for the first time--literally minutes before Mr. Isikoff arrived at my home.
8. In late July 1997, Mr. Isikoff called to advise me that he intended to publish a story regarding Ms. Willey's alleged encounter with President Clinton. I told Mr. Isikoff that I wanted to set the record straight before he published the story and I proceeded to explain to him that Ms. Willey had asked me to lie to support her version of the event and that I had, in fact, done so."

[Seems to me that since Ms. Steele admits she has lied willingly on behalf of others in the past, that Ms. Willey at least has a point "who maintains Steele's version of events is untrue."
[Ms. Steele: I know that I have lied before, and happily so, but this time I'm really really telling the truth. I mean, this is under oath, under penalty of perjury. May God strike me dead if I'm lying under oath. I do have a scruple left: what kind of scumbag would lie under oath?"]

Enough "as the White House turns"; it's back to work for me. - DK
