According to my understanding of the Elliot Wave Theory, the Dow and S&P 500 are now in the fifth "up" wave of the bull market. If this is true, the theory argues, we have entered the blow-off top phase of the 5th upward leg, as can be seen on a 10-year chart of the averages.

With the Dow up >12%, S&P >13%, NASDAQ >13% so far this year/quarter, first quarter mutual fund net inflows averaging $1.7 billion/week over the past month, and end of quarter window dressing taking place, 9000 on the Dow appears to be only a matter of time. Beyond that - Who knows?

Jeff,

Thanks for the tip on the DJX index options. I looked at them six months ago, but there wasn't much volume. Interest is definitely picking up. I'm intrigued by the December 100 calls -- the bid ask is 10 1/2 - 11 1/4. If the Dow breaks 9000 next week, these will hit 12, which might be a good sell point.
