Mark, what do you mean by "biased re Maxtor drives"? I ask because the last three drives I've bought have been Maxtor's (with which I am well satisfied, BTW), but I am a WDC stockholder. Yeah, call me stupid. You can't outperform my wife on that score I'll wager (nor me, for that matter). But it's a little hard to buy Maxtor as a DD maker, you know? But where does Maxtor get their heads? I may be wrong but I don't think Samsung does it in house. That's more the point here. I'll wail otherwise on the WDC thread (been avoiding that; my pain tolerance is limited).
