FYI The Super Stack II 9000 has striking similarities to Extreme's Summit 1 Layer 3 switch, I would advise for you to go to COMS website and look up the SPEC sheet for the Super Stack II 9000 and compare it to Extreme's Summit 1 Switch.... check both products data sheets and compare the dimensions as well as the placement of the LED's power consumption and such, why are they so similar??? There is no difference COMS, CSCO or BAY, all of the real innovators of the industry will eventually leave and join startups, and develop bleeding edge products, hoping to be acquiered by one of the BIG 4!.... BTW Hardware integration is the easy part... porting CISCO IOS is a different story.... I wonder if Stratacom's switches are making use of CISCO IOS by now.... Happy hunting.... FastPath

Mang, I don't follow 3COM that much, don't even use their NIC's, but I'm curious what else you can tell me about their 9000. When will it ship? Are their any independent test's which can verify it's performance? 56 million pps is pretty ambitious, however too often there is alot of fine print that goes with these claims. As far as Accelar, I'de be surprised if the 1200 today was the end of the line and I may be wrong but I don't think the 3500 stacks up against it too well either. Cisco/Granite is pretty much dead but I saw a press release a few weeks ago that Bay's first Accelar customer was Ford Motor Co. I guess that's a good place to start and should reassure you that the Accelar works. BTW, I saw another announcement this week that 3COM laid off another 230 employees and 200 -300 temps in Illinois. Is that where they are doing their Core Builder development? GR
