MetalTrader: Your research will pay off, I think, with your buy. This thread has a range of contributors, but rarely is there a prophet of doom for Adaptec. And I don't think any of us have our heads in the sand (or anywhere else, for that matter.) But I think we share a well-founded gut feeling the company is a winner. The question for some is when (not whether) to jump aboard the train. A bunch of us longs are packed in the engine, having bought long ago. Others are looking for the caboose. Unfortunately, the institutions own most of the railroad, so we're somewhat dependant upon their schedule.

Metaphors aside, there remain near-term concerns about the health of the tech sector overall, and Asia is still looming as a negative influence on earnings. These may just drag ADPT down a notch or two over the next three months. Even we stalwart longs recognize that, as reflected, in part, in Mark's survey. A healthy respect for current market conditions is competing with our instincts (we think well-founded) about Adaptec and its future. Now we're just waiting to hear "All aboarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd!"

Rainy Saturday musings.
