WCOM does not need a latin america partner since MCI is a pretty
good latin america partner. Telfonica espana or whatever that first
went with BT and now WCOM/MCI is not a fickle company. They are just
following MCI's presence is south america with their own spanish
speaking user base.

The missing links are video and home satelite. Which this WCOM
observer and MCI ESPP shareholder expect will be added after the MCI
purchase. One of the brilliance aspects of WCOM is the decision to
lay overseas and pan european fiber in order to avoid alliances with
high cost local providers. If telefonica de espana is willing to
join with WCOM on terms acceptance to WCOM then that lets WCOM
go after the other major countries.

Duestche Telecom and France Telecom are both bloated recently
gov't owned unionized companies which any well capitalized competitor
would love to engage in a competitive battle. WCOM is correct to
make alliances with the smaller countries and compete against the
big three (BT, DT and FT).

I hold MCI via the ESPP and I regret I overlooked WCOM until they
made their takeover bid.
