Joey Smith:

<<If AMD rakes up big losses when K6 outsells PII, what will happen when PII systems become the low-end?????>>

The answer is very simple. Instead of losing $600,000,000 in possible revenue per quarter, Intel will lose > $1,000,000,000 in possible revenue every quarter. You better hope that the PII from Intel never becomes low-end anytime soon. If that was the case Intel IS FINISHED! AMD K6 die size on 0.25um IS 1/2 the die size of PII at 0.25um.

Joey , AMD has done what it set out to do, gain market share from Intel , something that benefits both Compaq and IBM and all the PC buyers .
No one including Compaq and IBM wish to return to the bad old days .
The profits will come from the .25 versions (K6-3D and K6+-3D), as the AMD chart is indicating already .
On the other hand what does the Intel chart indicate ?
According to my Investment software it does not look good
unless you are a short seller. The chart is what you would expect from
that of a company that is losing its monopoly position .

RE:With PII systems appearing in sub $1000 systems in 2Q, Celeron ($800) and PII-233 ($1000), this trend will change, and K6 will be the BIG loser...expect more big losses for AMD for the foreseeable future. If AMD rakes up big losses when K6 outsells PII, what will happen when PII systems become the low-end?????

Did Jill take away privileges for your Stockman alias <G>? You seem as sensible as him and that ain't good. Intel needs to cut Celeron pricing by 30% to make it close to the price points you're talking about and that doesn't include the expensive MB.
