I need only remember that it is written:

"Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord."

Surely, Jane, I have felt the desire for vengeance, for revenge.
And have not only felt the desire to insult, but have done so
and needed to ask for forgiveness afterwards. The words of
Christ in Matthew 6 are not advice, they are a statement, a
command. It is for me to follow that command as best I can,
and to hopefully grow stronger in it as the years pass. It
is not for me to say, "well, Jesus told me to do this, but he
did that, so I will, too." That's his territory, mine is to
follow his commandments.

Jane, were Pharisees really Jesus' brothers?

He calls them "sons of hell" (Matt. 23:15)
He calls them "snakes,vipers"(Matt. 23:33)
He calls them "blind guides" (Matt. 15:14)

And the most scathing was recorded in John 8 when after much discussion about Him and the Father Jesus said "you belong to your father the devil, and you want to carry out your fathers desire" v44.
