Don't forget some families will buy more than one computers , and every worker will
have one PC at work and those own P at work will most likely buy pc for home use.

The world population distribution:

China 1.4 B
India 0.9 B
Russia 0.3 B
Europe 0.4 B
US 0.3 B
Japan 0.3 B
Korea (North + South) 0.08 B
South East Asia 0.5 B
Middle East 0.2 B
South America 0.3 B
Aferica + the rest of the world 0.3 B

Now you can start do your analysis based on the economic conditions of each region.

Thos are just consumer PC market, pls do not forget the PC market for corporation,
Factory automations... etc, as well as high end computer market for financial, R&D, missle
control, .....etc. I bet you will come to the conclusion that the market is huge and far from
saturation, just like the VP of INTEL , Mr. Yu, said the other day.

The three most prepared companies for this big comming opportunities are IBM, HWP, CPQ. If DELL and SUNW do not think about some way for future competition, they will
all out of the pictures in couple of years. The big three will continue take the market shares from the small players in the years to come. With the price of computers getting lower ,
some of those smaller player can not play this market anymore, and they are ready to be out of the market. Stronger got stronger, and weaker got weaker, this is the golden rule of this
business, and high volume is the only way to be successful. So, market share is important !!!

Yes, Andreas, I agree that when you take out all the people you mentioned we end up with less, probably around 3 billion, give or take a billion. :) But that still leaves a grunch. CPQ is *only* selling around 11 - 13 million computers a year right now. My whole line of thinking is based on a long term view. Market makers, short sellers, puts, options, analysts, short term investors, panic, fear, optimism makes the stock go up or down, sometimes drastically, but in the long run it will be CPQ's long term performance that will determine what the price is ten years from now, and that is what my time horizon is. For the people that are looking to cash out in a few months or a year or two...I don't blame them for flopping and twitching, because I would be too, but them and me is as different as apples and oranges.
