A Russian Proton rocket has carried a broadcasting satellite belonging to PanAmSat Corporation [NASDAQ:SPOT] into space. The PAS-5 satellite will be positioned over the Atlantic Ocean and provide telecommunications and broadcasting services to Europe and the Americas.
