Acer America Introduces the Next
Generation of High-Powered, Mid-Range
Mobile Computers

Acer Offers Intel Pentiumr Power, High-Impact Multimedia
and Full Functionality at an Affordable Price

SAN JOSE, CA, May 5, 1997 - Building on its highly successful line of
full-featured, value-priced multimedia notebooks, Acer America
Corporation today introduced the Texas Instruments ExtensaT 610
Series*. The Series is designed to bring enhanced capability and Intel
Pentium processing to corporate professionals needing a mobile computing
productivity tool. Teaming a 150MHz Pentium processor with 32-bit PCI,
256KB pipeline-burst cache, a Zoomed Video port, CardBus support, a
fixed 10-speed CD-ROM and a large-capacity 1.4GB hard drive, Acer
offers an extraordinary mobile computing solution at an affordable price.

"Listening to our mobile computing customers, Acer America designed the
Extensa 610 Series to meet their needs for powerful performance,
expandability and the latest multimedia capabilities," stated Steve Lair,
Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Acer America's Commercial
Systems. "This impressive combination of processing speed, storage
capacity and large hard drive allows corporate professionals requiring a
reliable mobile computing productivity tool to work more efficiently and
effectively."

The fully featured Extensa 610 Series allows for applications such as
multimedia presentations, spreadsheets, database manipulation, remote
communications, Internet and Intranet access and word processing. The
Series is available in two models - the 610CD and the 610CDT.

Ease-of-Use Features
The 610 Series delivers full multimedia functionality and powerful Pentium
processing, as well as incorporates ease-of-use features, to meet the
demanding needs of mobile computing customers. Both models feature
lightning-fast performance with a Pentium 150MHz processor, 256KB
pipeline-burst cache, 16MB EDO RAM (expandable to 64MB), a
long-lasting advanced NiMH battery and a hot-swappable 1.44MB external
floppy disk drive.

The 610CD features a 11.3-inch dual-scan display, while the 610CDT
features a brilliant 11.3-inch active-matrix display. The NiMH battery
provides more than three hours of life (depending on usage). An optional
lighter weight Li-Ion battery also is available. The full-sized recessed
keyboard featuring an EasyTouch touchpad located in the palmrest makes
typing more comfortable and cuts down on keystroke mistakes. The sloped
palmrest is ergonomically designed for the comfort of the user.

Multimedia Capabilities
To meet the needs of notebook customers requiring extraordinary
multimedia capabilities, the Extensa 610 Series includes Zoomed Video
(ZV) and CardBus support on the PC Card slots; a fixed 10-speed
CD-ROM drive; 1MB video RAM; and 16-bit sound with stereo speakers,
audio in/audio out and microphone in ports. ZV delivers a high-performance
video data transfer rate and supports full-motion video for multimedia data
transfers. This allows for more efficient use of the system's utilities when
performing video playback, video conferencing and other video transfer
applications.

Extensa 610 Series Availability and Warranty
Available in May, the Extensa 610CD will have an estimated street price of
$1,999, with the 610CDT's estimated street price at $2,599. Extensa

There's more than one Digital because the word is descriptive and apt for the field of computers and micro-electronics ... there's only one Nike or Kodak because these words mean nothing in relation to the products ... Zulu is far closer to the Nike situation than the Digital situation, unless you're talking about software for African tribes or for timekeeping ... if Zulu Broadcasting wants to exclude Netz from the use of the mark Zulu-tek for Web ad services, they can likely do so ... of course, lots of other marks can do the job, but it doesn't look so good when you keep changing your identity ...
