On the subject of convenient mathematics:

Three guys go in to a motel to get a room for one night. The night manager says that rooms are $30 a night. So, each guest pulls out a $10 bill and they pay for the room. After 1/2 hour, the managers realizes he had overcharged the guests, so he pulls out five $1 bills and gives it to the bellboy to return it to the guests. The bellboy knew there were 3 guests in the room and figured it would be easier to split $3 amongst 3 people instead of $5. So, he pocketed $2 and returned the other $3 to the guest.

The question: Each guest paid $9 ($10 - $1) for total of $27 (3x9). The bellman pocketed $2. $27 + $2 = $29. What happened to the other $1?

Maybe Bill's 4 year old son can figure this out!

The point: I've monitored this thread and lately posters are playing with numbers to make their point. In a couple of months we'll know how these bids translate into revenue - or don't !!

Martin,
