>>Thanks, Betty. I think I am one of the few people in America who has NOT yet seen the movie.

There are indications that Titanic's audience is yet to be tapped. Rumors are that until now all the business has been generated by a handfull of 13 year old girls seeing the movie thousands of times each!

Btw, has your teenager seen it yet?

>>Did it really deserve that many awards?<<

I dunno, comparatively speaking I'd say probably.....Jim Cameron certainly deserves much credit for his efforts. Some people really hate the "love story" aspect of the movie, but I frankly think that is big a part of what makes it work. We all know the ending, but we don't know what happens to Jack (the Leo Di Caprio character) until the end...The movie is historically accurate and since TITANIC was found, we now know that the ship broke in 2 parts before sinking. Cameron comes very close to letting the viewer see and feel what it must have been like during the final hours for the passengers. It's really quite beyond the imagination what those people went through. The computer generated visual effects are superb, obviously without them, this movie could not have been made with it's high degree of authenticity....
