Bob, You hit on 2 out of my 3 points where the company needs to improve IMHO. 1) Marketing 2) Better sales management 3) Lack of presence with top application partners. On your other points, IFMX's pricing is competitive with ORCL and SYBS. It's MSFT that causes the problem. In either case, discounting is rampant. As for the engineers blasting sales & marketing, as you can tell from the reaction on this board, if you say anything other than "Go Informix" you get blasted. But at IFMX, I believe bobf has a handle on most things. True, he is from a hardware background but his job is management and turnaround. It is the sales management that has me concerned. Many of the senior ones come from hardware backgrounds, several from DEC (interesting analogy you made) and Sun. I was in a presentation where the head of the sales force in North America was unable to tell us (the prospect) what the value-add of IFMX was compared to ORCL. He asked the engineer on the sales team to explain it. Enough said. As for partner presence, as Syborg stated, IFMX isn't playing well at trade shows etc right now. They just aren't getting enough attention and exposure for their great products. Now I'm not a huge fan of trade shows, the amount of qualified leads you get from them is minimal at best, but at thispoint IFMX needs to do everything they can to get their name recognozed again for something other than the spectacular stock tumble. The trade show "ghost towns" mimic the outside world in that respect. If you are hot or interesting, your booth is busy. If you aren't, or people don't know who you are, your booth is empty. I welcome input. opinions, etc. I want this company to grow and get back to its former glory. That means they can't just assume the products will sell themselves. IMHO Cheers
