This is really a joke. Earnings don't seem to matter anymore. Everyone has been wrong about coms growth prospects in the past, why should they be right this time around? They shouldn't. The company's prospects are worse today than they were two years ago. The market has been growing and they haven't (read earnings growth = profitability). Also, there is new competition from INTC, CPQ, and Ascend in the past few years. Furthermore, Cisco is stronger than ever and coms will have to deal with the likes of Lucent and Ericsson as data and voice converge. If you had enough money to buy coms out, would you do it?
