Paul, Just visited AMD threads to read what they are saying. It must be nice to create your own reality. When some of them drift over here, they demonstrate detachment from reality and the chutzpah to post drivel repeatedly. Not much realistic looking at the implications of the flight of their CFO. Albert is the only one who acknowledges that it might be troubling. Not much talk about yield there. Not much talk about profits. Not much talk about management skill. Lots of juvenile name-calling. Lots of huffing and puffing. If I were an AMD fan, I would be obsessed with yield. Real obsessed.

Years ago I gave a talk on object-oriented programming at Wescon. In questions after the talk, one individual stood up and told the audience and me repeatedly that it was "ludicrously foolish" to think of using any language but Forth for programming any application. Forth was an interesting academic language with some cute features that gathered some press 20 years ago. That individual was dead sure that the clear excellence of Forth would make all other languages obsolete immediately if not sooner. The guy seemed bright enough but he had a lot of trouble in the logic and reality issues. I see the same zealotry and denial of my Forth friend over in AMDland. It's kind of fun in a depraved way to lurk there, but they are so busy convincing themselves that Forth, excuse me, AMD is going to decimate Intel in the immediate future. Remarkable.

Best regards,
Burt
