>>Duncan, Julie Christie is truly a wonderful presence, even in her sixties, facelift or not.

I think Christie is 57. She was born in India. Helen Hunt lucked out at the Oscars - the Brits split the vote four ways. Christie won the following for Afterglow:

National Society of Film Critics Awards, USA - Best Actress NSFC Award

New York Film Critics Circle Awards - Best Actress NYFCC Award

San Sebastian International Film Festival - Best Actress Silver Seashell

Christie has a big profile/interview in February's Premiere.

But I do think we tend to idealize the stars of old, and do not appreciate the great young ones. Winona Ryder and Uma Thurman and Helena Bonham Carter immediately come to mind as great actresses with adult dignity and staying power.

You have a point. With Carter.

>>When you were making that remark about Slick and drugs, were you talking about Slick Willie and the cocaine allegations, or Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane?

Haven't seen Grace lately, but she's a real pistol on late night talk shows.
