I continue to struggle to understand one aspect of Checkfree. From your post:
"CheckFree offers electronic data interchange systems that allow customers to make routine payments and collections, do paper-based financial transactions automatically, and make secure purchases on the Internet."
How does Checkfree allow customers to make secure purchases on the internet? Their bill payment model does not get the vendor paid until 4 business days after the payor transmits the instrucion. I have not seen a "pay now" button on any internet transaction site or even a pay in 4 business days button on a site. This is the primary concern I have about Checkfree's future. Will they evolve rapidly enough to keep from being passed in this space? If they are going to be passed who will be the likely successor. Ultimately, maybe not to long from now, e-commerce will require any consumer to be able to press a button that debits their checking account and credits the vendors account right now? Help?
