Brady, these fads come and go.

Remember what the big hoo-ha was a year ago? Push channels. Remember push channels?

Now, here's a leader from the front page of the March 23 Internet World:

RETHINKING PUSH CHANNELS

They seemed like a hot idea a year ago, but no more. Page 20.

The article explains that push channels never gained consumer acceptance. (i.e. nobody used them) and now they are suffering lack of support by web sites unwill to produce content that nobody is reading.

I predict the same fate for video banner advertising. Advertisers think they are a great idea. Consumers will feel otherwise. The latter will eventually become clear from collected statistics.

Or I could be wrong.

But my point is that just because a lot of people are putting a lot of money in it, doesn't mean it's going to be a success. These same people have been WAY wrong before, as the "hot topic" of the year faded into oblivion.
