To All:

I haven't posted on this thread since ADPT was in the 50's. I sold, not because I was smart, but because I got stopped out. I have been watching ADPT for an entry point and got in at 23 1/2 just before the Symbios announcement -- pure luck. Well I sold out on the pop up because ADPT went to far too fast and never seems to hold on to fast run-ups.

Wow, I was lucky to get out because ADPT fell again. I've been debating taking a position since ADPT fell below 21 1/2 yesterday. My problem is this: I don't like to try to catch a falling knife unless I understand why the price fell. Does anyone have any clues why stock dropped again yesterday?

Mark & Mark,

The Symbios fabs are fully analog capable.

Mark B., you are correct that any ASIC fab is fundamentally capable of making mixed-siganl chips, but most ASIC fabs do not have mixed-signal processes that have been designed, qualified, and put into use (no simple task). Analog additions to a process include a second poly layer for making poly1-poly2 "analog" capacitors, low threshold devices, and any special structures for noise isolation between the digital and the analog sections of the chip.

Judging from the last two day's price action on no news, there is something really bad coming. Down another point today on over 5 million shares. Somebody knows some insider information and they are trading on it. Adaptec management deserves to be sued.

Pravin.
