Drakes - the "theory" about some shares possibly being "pre-sold" was assuming activity coming from outside the U.S. where regulations for accountability of activities has been rumored to be far less stringent.

Of course one could take advantage of the 3-day + 10-day extension rules right here in the U.S. by utilizing MMs and closing out the positions with converted shares.
