Why do I get this feeling that things are about to change for the better? Maybe wishful thinking - but I just cannot help it.

Dan: If I didn't think you were right I would have got rid of Ramtron long ago. But in the last six months I have several times lost my concentration at the wheel, when EEPROM has unexpectedly overtaken me.

BTW, does SGS-THOMSON mean FRAM when they mention "two 200mm, 0.25 micron capable plants qualified for non-volatile memory production". Doesn't EEPROM classify as non-volatile memory? Cheers, RichardW.

The news release re SGS Thomson refers to "MCU-based smartcard chips". Is that a reference to EEPROM like PZT is to FRAM?

Do you know if the RMTR/RCOM cards will work with the same readers that process transactions with the SGS cards? Where I am heading with that is: Can the RMTR/RCOM cards replace the SGS cards in a way that is transparent to the card users? Or, would a whole new system be needed? Does EEPROM require a battery to retain memory? Or, is that a duplicate of the post asking if EEPROM is non-volatile memory?
