Janice, I am not sure what to make of the entire book issue, but Clinton was quite vague when he was being deposed about what gifts Monica gave him. I think it is pretty standard for prosecutors to confront witnesses who cannot recall much, with details to stimulate their memories.

>>That would presumably speak to his intellectual formation and his mental state. But Starr isn't intersted in the books Lewinsky OWNS, which would be bad enough. He's interested in books she may have GIVEN to someone.<<

Good Lord Woman! Where do you come up with this stuff? Are you a mind reader? You don't the slightest idea as to why Starr looked at those records. Everyone is surmising here, but, the logical conclusion to be drawn is that he will be using it for corroborating evidence. If she is on record during the taped conversations that she has or had given the book to Clinton, how in the world is she gonna deny it when it's recorded on her sales receipts. For all we know she actually told Tripp that she gave Clinton a book on phone sex. If she did and the records show she bought a book on phone sex, then a reasonable person would assume it was true. Get a clue....
