Seems like WCOM is getting more aggressive in pursuing the consumer long-distance market, too. They're teaming up with the Sierra Club to get members to switch carriers.

Just this morning, I got a call from a Sierra Club rep, offering to switch my long-distance biz over to Worldcom. Offered me 10 cents/min for out-of-state calls and 8 cents/min in-state (Ohio). After the first 6 months, the Club gets $3.50 a month as part of my 'donation'.

I took the deal. Beats my 12 cents/min rate from AT&T. And it helps support my (our) stock.

I wonder just how many other non-proft groups Worldcom has teamed up with to go after the consumer market? Anybody have more on this marketing approach?
