>>Sorry for being obtuse....I was just musing over how you have such a problem with alleged plagiarism, but lying under oath gets a pass. Don't get me wrong, I agree, if she indeed did plagiarize then she should be condemned. BOTOH, she might take the Steven Spielberg argument and say that when you are writing about historical facts (Amistad) the facts are in the public domain. He won his plagiarism case. I'm frankly at a disadvantage having not read her book or knowing the background. Was she sued for plagiarism and if so who prevailed?

And just what happened to Janice's hallowed presumption of innocence? Oh, I see, it's just a political device that applies to the hopelessly corrupt.

She pretty much took "her" book word for word from somebody's doctoral dissertation. TLS published lengthy extracts from both; no doubt about it. In the end the case was settled out of court in favor of the plaintiff, presumably for a large sum. One of the terms of the agreement was that the plaintiff not talk about the case, so the details were not made public.

I can't blame the victim in this case. Anybody wanna plagiarize my stuff? GREAT! I'll settle outta court for a coupla million and never say a WORD.
