Rod, you need to read my messages in context. And drop the condescending crap.

MSFT has produced the finest tool for developing Windows apps. Like it or not, to be really optimized on Windows, you must support COM. In short, nobody will have a better $49 Java env for developing Windows-apps that MSFT. For the next few years, MSFT will own the desktop, and most of the comodity priced tools and apps that go with it.

The important thing to remember, is developing Windows apps is not where it is at. The money and excitement is in the enterprise, and MSFT J++ has zero chance of making any inroads in this market, until they support open standards including CORBA and beans. You see Java as taking over the world. I am a little more pragmatic. The real promise of Java, beans, and CORBA (in the short term) lies in enterprise.

There is also the big unknown of hand-held technology. I see a tremendous opportunity for Java to dominate the business hand-helds market (i.e. UPS, FedEx, etc.). I believe that the Pilot will own the personal hand helds for a long time due to it's brilliant simplicity.
