Mark, I am gonna get into some ""meat"" in this post, but don't get angry. I am not a bible college trained guy or preacher, just a Christian, so my wording will not always be perfect, but my intentions will be sincere. You said: ''Religions where its practitioners engage their religion with great sincerity and purpose.'' ok,brother you are in for it now, I be copying and pasting.....rofl..thanks for the lessons on how to do it. Mark, there are many "religions","sects",in this world that have,IMO, nothing in common with what God desires. Even some of them are very earnest in "worshipping" satan and "love" him much. And even you seem to agree that this religion deal is an ACTIVE thing.ie..engage their religion. James,a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,says this in his letter:<<James 1:22>> "Do not merely listen to the Word,and so deceive yourselves.Do what it says." and again he says:<<1:26>> If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue,he deceives himself,and his religion is worthless." and again<<1:27>> "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." You see what James is saying. He says it very plain: (active.or worthless). He also says very plain in <<5:9>>" Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. THE JUDGE IS STANDING AT THE DOOR."(caps mine) What does he mean by this?? I read this: WHERE THERE IS LIFE THERE IS MOTION. As a physical being, you have movement to sustain life, do whatever. It is no different with your spiritual being. It should be "moving" to show its life.So what is the "purpose". Is it just ramshackle,herky-jerky,Church of Whats Happening Now,My Mindset Movers and Shakers Congregation? Or is it:" I AM the God of your father,the God of Abraham,the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob."<<Gen.3:6>> but suppose I go and they ask me "what is His name" paraphrazed<<Gen.3:13>> <<Gen.3:14>> God said to Moses,"I AM THAT I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites:I AM has sent me to you."" and is it:" For God so loved the world,that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever shall believe in Him,shall not perish but have eternal life." and is it:"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me to drink" and is it: "if God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from the Father" and is it: LAZERETH,.....COME OUT!!! <<John:11:43>> cold chill city and is it: I am the Way.... and the Truth.... and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. <<John 14:6>> Mark, as you see, I believe that if I am to be "religious" I must. 1. Have a True and Living God 2. Have a living Sacrifice to atone for me. note(LIVING) 3. Have a moving Spirit 4. Accept in faith the "plan" put forth for me. 5.
