Meghan, here is some further insight.

Grant Saviers, CEO of Adaptec, is on the Analog board, elected last month. This is probably the first of several cooperative activities between the two companies, although I don't understand Read Channel technology enough to make an intelligent comment. This purely speculation on my part, but based on the observation that business is a people-to-people activity.

During the Analog annual meeting earlier this month, there were several references to "being out of the personal computer business". This might seem inconsistent with the Intel and 3Com business recently announced. But if one were to examine these two pieces of business, one could categorize them as "real-world" and "communication dsp" which are the company's focus. This focus can produce high margin and high value added business.

Anyone else have an answer?

Regards,

Dave Chanoux
