CAP Gains, "FTC approval of the DEC deal, 20,000 layoffs not the 8000-10000 previously announced and a partial restructuring of the deal." I hope you are wrong about the no. of people being laid off. I am long CPQ, but that is too many lives being affected and I for one don't like it. Believe me, I am not being facetious. This is one of Wall St.'s bad side effects I always have trouble accepting as an investor. I am always in turmoil about this matter. IMO, even 8000 is far too many. Multiply the 8000 by an average of 4 and you can imagine the lives that will be touched by this merger. I hate mergers for this reason. Again wishing you are wrong, peace to you! peacelover

Cap; Nope and it rings very highly exaggerated..both the time table and the amount of layoffs are to unreal..this kind of stuff will just mess with your mind.. And about were did you hear such rumor ? Is there another thread, a url..what ..a person needs to furnish some sort of source..or a reason they can't if they want to spread rumors.. ------------------------- None the less I can't think of any motive for this one other than to shake up employees.. sounds crappy to me..at least on the part of the originators. Jim PS got other stuff to deal with besides BS. hell they only have 32K employees so they are going to lay off 2/3rds! ..you got to know that wont fly, the nut didn't even look at numbers before he grabed that out of the air.
