Brian: I don't of any such custom in Nepal, but I could be wrong though. I will look into it and see if can get further info on it. But just to be on he safe side pack a couple of long shorts or take a few old Levis and cut it off at the knees even.<gg>

Perhaps someone who knows about it will post something on it,I hope.

Bon Voyage.

I doubt if shorts can get you into trouble in Nepal.

Brian, I took a 2week trip there 7 yrs ago in mid Nov. and had a fabulous time! We trekked (nothing extreme!), rafted on the Trisuli, safaried in Chitwan (but alas, no tiger sightings!), did the Everest plane ride (you ride for an hr. at 30,000ft along the entire Himalayan range), etc.., it was a total Blast! The people are friendly and helpful, and make sure you visit the Monkey temple in Kathmandu and the neat temples of Pokhara. The best part for me was Chitwan National Park, where for 4 days we vainly tried to spot tigers via elephant back, jeep and hiking, but the lush and overgrown grass (after the post monsoon rains) made it real hard to spot any of the wild cats.

I was lurking and came across this new thread, and now amazingly, SI (of all places!) has managed to bring back my Nepal memories tonight!

Enjoy your trip and try to report back here all the fun you are about to have! You will love it.

Srikant.
