Paul
that was too lame even for you.
You mean to say that intel does not need to pay for intels equipment. What, do you make in your wood-shop and give it to intel for free

Paul, when I agreed with what you wrote I was agreeing that if your suppositions are right then your conclusions are right, too.

ASPs are coming down. True except for the low-cost producer IDTI.

Intel can address some of the decline with cost reductions. Will they? Maybe you know and maybe you don't. As far as yields go, does Intel disclose them to the public?

If Intel is starting production with 0.18 micron processes in the fall that will be very good for them.

As far as IBM cutting into margins for IDTI, AMD and Cyrix, that may be OK. I know for IDTI the C6+ and C7 are gravy and the processors made at IBM are insurance and extra gravy. I suspect AMD and Cyrix view IBM's production in the same light. Plus, all three are probably pretty happy to have access to IBM's process technology that should increase performance and reduce costs. In the end, maybe the margins don't suffer much at all.

You seem like a pretty bright guy, Paul. Why don't you stop beating the Intel drum and look at issues from both sides and give us the benefit of your insights. Pretend you own some IDTI or AMD or NSM and see if you can come up with good reasons why their situations look good.
