At 28.8 I am finding the day time response to be slow enough to cause timing out from
Netscape not getting a response to URL requests within SI. It happens sometimes on
Yahoo, too. But not as often as the last month here. Off hours response is much better.

Dennis,

I do not have the problem with timing out. My connection is much faster but I doubt that has anything to do with response time. I have noticed a significant increase in lag time but am not certain the cause is more hits due to the added traffic or the change of interface. SI is doing more during each hit than it has in the past. The stock quote is there. It is looks for replies to the posts, etc. There is likely a lot more traffic with private messages we do not see. I suspect the increased lag time is caused by both the added features and the free trial.

I understand the lack of need during non market hours.

The SI owners have been very good in the past to offer good response time. They may have on order additional servers or whatever they need. I am confident they will get the response time faster in the near future.

Glenn

Dennis, this should not be happening. Remember the response you get is not just your 28.8 connection to the ISP, but the number of other users/modem and total users, and the size of the back end pipe.

Shitch to another phone number if you can. I don't know who your ISP is, but on AOL there can be huge differences between connection numbers. I use earthlink now at 56K and have been very pleased with the response times.

Here hoping your response times improve. Perhaps a few ASND products on the other end would help? <g>

Also check your port speed settings in Control panel. Make sure they are set higher than your modem speed.
