My wife and I have a joint margin account, in which we did numerous trades last year. She works at home (as homemaker), and manages our joint account during the day. Can she complete forms required for Sole Proprietorship, and then can we enjoy benefits of trader status (on the joint account)? Also, if she completes necessary form, is she eligible for trader status tax advantages in 97?

Do traders need to list every single stock purchase and sale?
Does TurboTax supply a form to list all the trades?
If a trade is made on Dec 31, and settlement date is in the next year, which year does the trade apply to?
Thanks.
