All PCB (Printed Circuit Board) manufacturing operations have indeed shutdown at Compaq's world headquarters in Houston. The shutdown began last Wednesday and will last for two weeks. Houston CPU operations (box assembly) will shut down this coming week. The purpose is primarily for inventory reduction.

Compaq's Scotland plant either has closed or will shortly close also, but not primarily for inventory reduction purposes, but so various improvements can be made. Compaq's huge Singapore plant may be undergoing some degree of slowdown as well, but I'm not sure to what degree, if any.
