Maverick, High Desert, and Maxwell, First, I would like to congratulate you all for making so much on this fundamental-lacking stock in the past week. The following fundamental concerns have still to be addressed. Now, shall we?80% Yield Rumored at AMD Plant: The term yield does not mean anything if number of possible good dice are not expressed! This yield number could be on well established 6" wafer or even 4" wafer which the old equipment at AMD's SDC is capable of. That is if we do believe this rumor is true which apparently you both do. There was a guiding light a few days ago toward where the "trouble" was along the AMD's production line. A routine and ubiquitous cleaning step was the culprit. For some one who has worked in the semiconductor industry, don't you Maxwell think it is quite lame? Quality control would catch that immediately. After all, correct me if I am wrong, High Desert. AMD is certified with ISO-9000 for quite some time now, unless you, High Desert, failed your job as an auditor and rewarded that prestigious certificate prematurely."AMD has developed the copper technology for wiring, which can conduct electricity better than Aluminium." Where did you Maverick get that? Although copper will reduce the TRACE RESISTANCE (ONLY) by 30%, you still have the on-resistance of the transistor to worry about, in which the supply voltage divided by this on-resistance is what Yousef has been referring to as Idsat, and the on-resistance dominates the trace resistance! This copper technology which addresses the trace resistance aspect of IC manufacturing is great but no cigar. The real improvement lies in how to reduce the junction capacitance of the transistors without reducing their size. I do not believe AMD would try out this copper technology in the near future."We continue to hear persistent rumors that a large computer manufacturer is interested in taking a substantial stake, like IBM, NEC, Fujitsu, Motorola. We think, if this were true, that IBM would make the most sense.'' --- Eric Rothdeutsch of Volpe Brown This guy named four companies as possible taking a substantial stake. When I hear some one covers all his bases (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and home), he has no clues at all, just guessing like all of us. After all, you guys are probably the masters of carrying out buy-on-rumors-and-sell-on-facts in which I have to hand it to you all. Just as Maverick has put it, we all have to invest at our own risks. Fundamentally, AMD smells bad! Well, enjoy it for now. When the analysts finally wake up from their day-dreaming, the stock of AMD would fall like Niagara Falls. John.
