jgercke: You've said it well. I am not concerned about an earnings warning either, just fishing for reasons the stock seems to be floundering (or flopping about on the shore.) Your "chicken" explanation is as good as any and maybe better than most. I also am impressed by Adaptec's characterization of its business, which I like to say is moving increasing quantities of data farther and faster. Data needs require bigger storage solutions, etc. etc. This is Adaptec's speciality, a well-defined niche in the market.

JG: I bought some more also. This, I think, is a good example of how we small investors can make money:

Adaptec is dominant in its industry, and has "missed" a quarter or two.

In the mean time, management is securing their dominance in adapters AND executing their growth strategy by purchasing Symbios at a bargain and the ASIC line from AMD.

They are also on the leading edge of new technology (Fibre Channel).

At current valuation, the stock is undervalued.

So whether the current quarter is a disappointment or not, for the little guy who has patience this looks like a good bet. IMHO wj
