Brian --

Here's one for you ... a little riskier than the normal bear spread that you proposed.

When I look at creating a spread I love to try to create the "Getcher No Cost Leg-In Spread" (actually well over 10,000 have thought of this way before me!)

Buy your 1095 puts ... let the market come to you in your favor ... sell the 1085 puts at the same price you bought the 1095 puts! Take off stove a let simmer until done ... if SPX below 1085, then you get your spread as profit ... If in between ... you get the picture .... Riskier at the start, but if the market favors you immediately, well-worth it!

I don't like Aprils-- you may see your money wiped out if we have good numbers on Friday-- trade uncertainity trade time-- the longer you are in expiry the better you are with seeing your levels-- I will make it little more exotic-- buy June 1090 and sell April 1060 for averaging your cost basis-- bear spread and a calender spread but risky you lock in your profits below 1060 if we are there before 17th April-- these are exotic trades and if you don't have a connection to the pits - better don't do it. If you need to come out of the trade you will get the sorst fill ---to trade a spread you need a full service brokerage house-- you can then even trade from where I am sitting with a lone stray dog still barking in the street.
