Thank you X, for putting so well what I was trying to express to Duncan and Michael. Of course people shouldn't have babies they cannot afford to feed, but it is not the fault of the children. And you are right about something else--with housing costs becoming so expensive, many people who thought they could manage to support children are having hard times as rents escalate. One of the few things Hillary Clinton has said that I agree with is "It takes a village to raise a child." What I take this to mean, in particular, is that all the people in a society have a tremendous stake in the future of every child, for it is the health of our children which determines whether we will thrive as a nation in the future, or decline.

I am not sure why that is so hard for so many people to understand!!
