Melissa - I've been a sales rep and managed plenty off them in enterprise software deals. There's always surprises. I'm not talking about at the very end - but I could list 50 deals without thinking very hard that I've been involved in either as a rep or as a manager/director/vp/CEO where I or my team won, and the reps on the other side were in it until the very end, even though I was pretty sure I won, or was infact, told I had won, but the other side didn't know. Sometimes, they didn't know for 2 quarters. I lost a few, too - fortunately, my won/loss ratio was about 10:1.

In fact, I can think of 6 or 7 deals where that happened against...Scopus! I can think of a few CLFY deals, but not as many. A lot happened when I was at IFMX (that's ancient history).

So, I'm not saying it happens every time, but it happens a lot.

Anyway, you've got your SEBL, I've got my VNTV, and we'll see who has the bigger percentage gain in 6 months.
