Dennis,

The scenario they played today is totally abnormal. It seems a group
of big guys locked with 27 11/16 ask x 27 5/8 bid for more than 4
hours. I have never seen this kind of phenomenon before. The only
reasons I can think of are:

(1) the shorts tried to cover back, so whenever it moves up, they
sold;
(2) the money managers tried to buy large chuck of blocks, but not
many shares can be purchased, hence they locked the prices so
the results will be similar to buying blocks.

Just my personal opinion.

Phil

Don Crabb writes about QT 3.0 additional AAPL Income. Eric, Phil, Anyone have an idea of the additional revenue QT 3.0 would generate? Was this previously a Claris development expense? <http://www.maccentral.com/features/rumor_reality.shtml> Shareholders like myself love canceling the 'free lunch program' and support the 'pay as you play' philosophy. Cheers, Dennis

Merill Lynch sat on the bid all day long by himself, and bought everything in sight until the final one and a half. Where some major sell programs hit the street. At that point he left and the stock fell fast to 27.25. It rebounded nicely back to 27.5.

If the sell program did not hit I would have been looking for ML to push the stock up significantly at the close. This makes him look good for his customer. I bought you a million shares at 27 5/8 and the stock is now at 27 5/8++. maybe a push up tommorrow by ML.

Goodman Sachs was selling against ML for the first couple of hours but eventually left. GS has been a big buyer of Apple the past couple of weeks maybe he was just taking some profits.
