Gary, you got it right. 50,000 modem ports is no big deal.
Now if it were 50,000 MAX TNTs we'd have something to cheer about.

Look at the wording:

"Most of the MAX TNTs will be deployed in large metropolitan areas where competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) continue to provide relatively easy access to circuits for PSINet's large ISDN modem banks."
