Brazil shares close firm, end March up 12.9 pct

SAO PAULO, March 31 (Reuters) - Brazilian shares ended firm on Tuesday in the last trading day of March, boosted by Wall Street's gains following a U.S. Federal Reserve decision to keep short-term U.S. interest rates unchanged, traders said.

Winning Brazil-Korea cell group to invest $500 mln

BRASILIA, March 31 (Reuters) - The Brazilian-Korean consortium which Tuesday won a concession to provide cellular services in Rio de Janeiro and Espirito Santo states plans to invest $500 million over the next three years, officials said.

The consortium bid 1.508 billion reais ($1.33 billion), or more than three times the asking price of 500 million reais, to pick up the 15-year concession. It also offered rates significantly lower than three rival bidders.
