Ed,
I agree, Netscape is attractive. I think the only thing keeping them down is Microsofts ability to install a browser within their operating system. People don't have a need to go pay for another browser, they already have one.
Personally I use only Netscape, even though the MS browser is taking up my hard drive space. Frankly I wish MS would take it out of the OS so I could choose for myself which browser I install on my hard drive.
Jeff...

p.s. NSCP sure is an active company...The stock will follow suit...IMO

>>Netscape is a fantastic buy right now. Note the following:

Market Cap Sales Income Book Value Debt/Equity
Netscape 1.73b. 530.8m. -15.3m 4.93 0.01
Yahoo 4.15b. 67.4m. -22.9m. 2.62 0
Aol 14.5b. 2.04b. 23.4m. 1.47 1.22 <<

Thank you for providing a list of stocks that are begging to be shorted. These 3 are all grossly overvalued. Now try comparing Netscape against a software company that actually makes a profit. Doesn't stack up as well, does it?

>>Netscape has the opportunity to become a portal, an isp and more.<<

And ISP and more, huh?

I have the opportunity to be President of the United States.
Don't count on either though.

Netscape is a software company that is giving away their most popular product (Browser) and selling software in the very competitive server arena.

I fail to see a business model for them that will produce profit anywhere near the levels necessary to justify their current market cap in the near future. (IMHO)

You can't compare Netscape to Yahoo. Netscape website is popular
mostly because of its browser marketshare. Netscape browser
marketshare will drop because of Win98. Therefore its brandname is
becoming less valuable unlike Yahoo.

As far as internet api's are concerned, Netscape has been replaced by
Sun. Developers don't care about Netscape anymore.

It is not likely Netscape can succeed in selling enterprise software
against the likes of Oracle, IBM, Microsoft.

Netscape is caught in no mans land. I'm not convinced they even know
how to reinvent the company.
