I could really care less about LU. They are a bunch of hypsters with their vaporware. I'm more upset that Bell Atlantic is only spending $25-35 million over 5 years for WDM.

I'm even more upset that I wasn't on top of CIEN today. I leave my computer for a few hours and I come back to a 3 point decline. Spoiled my day. Spoiled my week.

I notice UNPH did an about face and sold off 3 or 4 points as well.

<< This also raises the question whether the overall size and expected growth of DWDM market segment is hyped up too much >>

You have put your finger on the crux of CIENs viability.

I believe CIEN has great technology, BUT what is the real world time-phased demand profile for this technology?

Objective market-demand analysis data must exist somewhere. Without it, informed investment decisions are not possible.

As Craig Crawford suggests, "CIEN better come up with a good explanation for this".

I too sincerely hope they can and will provide their shareholders with credible quantitative reassurance of their near-term and mid-term market potential.
