Layoff's are bad for the people getting let go, but typically good for stock prices as it shows that the company is trying to control costs.

Mark: With the current acquisitions, a reduction of 7% is not deep enough. Because of the PC price war, their margins have been squeezed.

The only way to recover is by stepping up productivity or moving production Offshore. I fore see more difficult times since Mgmt appear reluctant to take drastic measures.
